Architect Michael Hughes, along with collaborators from the University of Colorado, are putting a new spin on mobile homes. The designer home, with a picture of their design prototype above, was made with affordable and stylish urban living in mind. Along with Oil, Mobile Homes Booming in Oil Country

Oilworkers are flooding the Permian Basin (and other oil production regions) to work the oilfields that are now coming online. Rents have been shooting up in these regions, leaving Mobile Homes as one of the natural property types to fill the gaps. Danny Rudd with Solitaire Homes says that sales have doubled at his dealership, up to 12-15 per month, compared to an average of 5-7 per month. With the oil boom continuing, and with housing scarce, Mobile Home sales certainly seem to have a bright future.
